Mr. Briody is a member of the International Criminal Bar and the International Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He has traveled to Canada and Europe to participate in training strategic planning for attorneys who appear on behalf of accused persons in international criminal and war crimes tribunals. He has written, taught and litigated on the subject of the use and misuse of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, an international treaty compelling police officers to advise arrested foreign citizens of their right to consular notification.

The nature of criminal law is changing rapidly and dramatically around the world with the creation of international war crime tribunals in Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Mr. Briody is presently co-counsel for an alleged high ranking defendant before the Special Court for Sierra Leone, and is on the list of qualified counsel for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
